Sound Energy

Sound is a type of mechanical wave that travels from one place to another. It is an oscillation of pressure transmitted via solid, liquid or gas.  It is composed of a variety of frequencies within the range of hearing and of a level sufficiently strong to be heard. Vibrations produced due to the sensation stimulation in the organ of hearing and it is recognized by our brain.

Sound energy is the energy that is produced by the sound vibrations as they travel by any medium and it is converted into conventional usage. Sound energy is a wave of vibrations in any object or in material; it depends upon the certain period of time that the pitch of the sound moves up and down.  This energy is not used for electrical power and for human energy because the amount of energy, which is produced from sound, is very small.

It is not easy to measure sound energy by using other energy units like joule, scientists preferred to measure sound energy in its terms of pressure and intensity using units like decibels and Pascal’s. Sound measurements vary by their nature and are relative to other sounds that lead to more or less pressure, when adequate amount of pressure and intensity combines then it cause loudness, it become noise for human being. These sound waves contained in that manner that they perform the loudness, quantity and pitch of the tone is pretty much high which becomes noise. These waves are like heat conduction, no particles actually travel.

 

Sound energy is linked with the capability of human ear to recognize sound, human ear are capable of hearing frequencies between 20 and 20,000 Hertz. Earth is consists many types of species and every specie has different range of hearing as dog can sense vibrations higher than 20,000 hertz. Various types of species have special organs to produce sound at different frequencies.  Even if we talk about natural phenomena like earthquake, lightening and rain has their own unique sounds from their own particular osculation’s.

 

Anyone can detect mechanical vibrations by their own detecting capability that sound is traveling through which type of medium like solid, liquid or gas. Sound is transmitted by the above mediums such as compression waves or longitudinal waves.  Sound waves are described by using these characteristics like wavelength, frequency and amplitude, speed, intensity and period. Sound depends on these factors like types of sound waves either it is longitudinal or transverse, and the medium of transmission of the sound wave.

 

The sound speed depends on the properties and the characteristics medium by which the sound waves travel.  Sound waves move much slower, the speed of sound in air is 330metres per second. Speed of sound is always proportional to the square root of the ratio of the mediums stiffness to its density. In gases, the speed of sound depends on the temperature, by considering this instance we can predict that physical properties with actual speed of sound can be altered by ambient conditions like above.
